Coronavirus - tax related help to business

The government has announced a huge raft of measures in an unprecedented attempt to support the economy in the face of the devastation caused by Covid-19.

Tax-specific measures to date focus on:

  • deferring dues dates for payment of VAT by three months,

  • the July payment on account for self-assessment Income Tax liabilities for the self-employed will be deferred until January 31 2021,

  • a business rates holiday for retail, hospitality and leisure businesses in England for the 2020 to 2021 tax year, and

  • HMRC’s Time To Pay service will offer tailored support re outstanding tax liabilities to businesses and self-employed people in financial distress, to be agreed on a case-by-case basis.
